Repair Experience That Helps Reduce Downtime

Heavy-duty truck problems are not always isolated to one component. A vibration, warning light, loss of power, overheating issue, or braking concern can involve several related systems, which is why experienced troubleshooting matters before parts are replaced.

Fleet Care Services uses hands-on repair knowledge and diagnostics to narrow down the cause of the problem and determine the right repair path. Finding the issue accurately can help prevent unnecessary work, reduce repeat visits, and return the truck to service sooner.

Experienced Support for Critical Truck Systems

Some failures can quickly take a commercial truck out of operation if they are not addressed early. Brake, cooling, suspension, driveline, transmission, and engine problems can affect safety, drivability, and the ability to complete scheduled work.

Our technicians evaluate the condition of the affected system along with nearby components that may have contributed to the failure. This broader approach helps identify underlying wear and reduces the chance of fixing one symptom while leaving another problem unresolved.

Keeping Repairs Focused on Getting Trucks Back to Work

Downtime can affect routes, deliveries, job schedules, and overall fleet availability. Our repair process is focused on identifying what needs immediate attention and completing the work required to restore dependable operation.

By addressing the actual cause of the failure, Fleet Care Services helps commercial operators avoid unnecessary delays and make more informed decisions about additional repairs or maintenance that may be needed later.

FAQs

How do I Check my Axle?

To check the axle on a heavy-duty truck, start by safely elevating the vehicle using jack stands. Rotate the wheels and visually inspect the axle shaft for any signs of wear, twisting, or damage. Listen for any unusual noises or grinding sounds which may indicate an axle bearing issue. It's advisable to consult with a professional for a comprehensive evaluation.

How Often Should Truck Brakes be Replaced?

For heavy-duty trucks, brake replacement frequency hinges on various factors, including driving conditions and cargo load. Typically, every 30,000 to 70,000 miles is a general guideline. However, regular inspections, say every 10,000 miles, are crucial. Noticeable signs like longer stopping distances or unusual noises should prompt immediate attention. Always prioritize safety by seeking expert advice.

What is the Standard Diagnostic System for All Vehicles?

For heavy-duty truck repair, the standard diagnostic system is the On-Board Diagnostics II (OBD-II). This universal system, mandated in 1996 for all vehicles sold in the U.S., monitors the performance of engine and other crucial vehicle parts. By connecting to the OBD-II port, technicians can retrieve fault codes and pinpoint issues, ensuring accurate and efficient repairs.

How Long Should you let a Diesel Warm up?

When it comes to warming up a diesel engine in heavy-duty trucks, a common rule of thumb is to let it idle for about 3 to 5 minutes in mild weather and up to 10 minutes in cold conditions. However, modern diesel engines are designed with efficient cold-start systems, so excessive idling should be avoided to reduce fuel consumption and emissions while ensuring adequate warm-up for optimal performance.

What is the Most Common Drive Shaft Problem?

The most common drive shaft problem in heavy-duty trucks is wear and imbalance. Over time, the drive shaft's universal joints may wear out or become misaligned, leading to vibrations and excessive noise. Regular inspections and maintenance can help detect these issues early, preventing costly damage and ensuring a smooth and safe ride for your heavy-duty truck.

What is the Average Life of a Clutch in a Truck?

The average life of a clutch in a heavy-duty truck can vary widely based on factors like driving habits, load weight, and road conditions. However, a well-maintained clutch typically lasts between 100,000 to 250,000 miles. Regular maintenance and driving practices that reduce unnecessary clutch wear can help extend its lifespan, ensuring smoother shifts and optimal performance for your truck.

The level of service that Chris and his team provided was outstanding. From a very early morning phone call to providing a solution to our tire problem and having us back on the road within 4 1/2hrs was amazing. Our tire was for a motorhome that is not easy to find. After spending a sleepless night calling AAA and other mobile repair teams who could not or would not help us, Chris pulled through. If you are ever in the Florence, SC area and need prompt and emergency service, don't hesitate to call Chris and his team first.

All superheroes don’t wear capes. These guys are life savers. I had problems with the tandems on a trailer and could not resolve the issue after trying for nearly two hours. Luckily, Chris drove by. I assumed the day was a waste but the positive attitude from Chris immediately left me with no worries. In little to no time the tandems began sliding and the truck was on the road again. I want to just say thank you Chris and Fleet Care Servics out of South Carolina for the assist. First call I am making when there is an issue.
